Especially in the Procurement department many companies past by and my network was growing. Small companies, bigger ones and in all kinds of varieties.
But with one of them, I have worked the longest period, namely First Saudi Construction Company.
After the piling works were completed and after a long tender stage we could finally sign the contract for making three (3) elevated stations, out of the six(6) that were planned for line 6. The other three stations had to go to other subcontractors so spread the risk.
On 13 July 2015 the contract was signed and the works could start.
The site preparations were good and it was obvious that we had a sufficient subcontractor on board that could do the job. However during the first year we were struggling with Quality, Health & Safety and keeping up with the time schedule. Without going into the details, after 1 year we had to inform FSCC that we were going to terminate their contract for the three stations. After some urgent meetings we decided to let FSCC finish one (1) station. They had the chance to proof that, as they were saying, could built, at least, one (1) station.
And the message was clear to them. After the revised and renewed contract, FSCC showed willingness to improve, learn and adapt the Quality, HSE and time standards that we were demanding under the main contract. The communication and corporation improved drastically for the better and station 6E1 became a good team.
Now after 2,5 years working (hard) together we have reached meeting # 100 !, of which I joined 90 out of them. The duration of the meetings were in the beginning sometimes 2,5 hours but we managed to get them back to 35 minutes sometimes. I would say 180 degrees differences compared to when we started.
To celebrate this moment, FSCC shared donuts for the occasion of meeting #100 on the 9th April 2018. Meeting #101 will be my last one in this project with them, where FSCC continue for the execution of the FIT OUT contract.
All the best in this project and for the team, that showed a huge learning curve. Thank you for being part of that.
